Glastonbury, the legendary music festival, offers an experience unlike any other, drawing hundreds of thousands annually. This year, digital content creator and Defender Ambassador Sam Evans got a taste of Glastonbury in high style, thanks to Land Rover’s ‘Camp Defender’.
Evans, coming from an Australian festival scene where 30,000 attendees is considered large, was taken aback by Glastonbury’s scale of 280,000. But it was the ‘Camp Defender’ experience that truly set the festival apart.
So, what exactly is Camp Defender?
According to Evans, it’s all about luxury. Think glamping tents with the works: beds, amenities, power, and Wi-Fi. A lounge area featured a bar, restaurant, and even a BBQ taco grill courtesy of chef Simon Stallard. There was also a spa tent, complete with hot tubs and a ‘glam zone’. Forget trudging through mud; Defender Hybrids whisked guests through the festival’s back entrance, straight to the main stage.
Evans’s daily routine involved waking up in a bell tent, enjoying showers, and indulging in Bloody Marys and tacos in the sun. As for the music, with 109 stages spread across 900 acres, choices abounded. Evans highlighted performances by ‘Jungle’ and ‘Disclosure’, and also enjoyed discovering new artists.
Of course, the Defender experience wouldn’t be complete without some time in a Defender. Evans lauded the Meridian sound system, emphasizing its ability to deliver high-quality audio even at full volume. He also appreciated the ‘Meridian Surround’ setting, which creates an immersive listening experience.
More specifically, Evans drove the Defender 110 Electric Hybrid. He praised the calm driving experience, highlighting the smooth and silent acceleration. The extra range provided by the hybrid technology also proved to be a major plus.
In related news, Land Rover recently unveiled the Defender OCTA, a V8 beast with advanced suspension, and is gearing up for a 2026 refresh of the Discovery family SUV duo, signaling a continued investment in both rugged performance and refined luxury. The brand also released a ‘Trophy Edition’ of the Defender 110, celebrating its off-road heritage, and 10 Magazine recently celebrated the versatility of the Discovery Dynamic HSE D300.
