GWM's Tank Conquers 'Beer O'Clock Hill' Again, Hi4-T Hybrid Tech Proven in Grueling Test

GWM is doubling down on its off-road credentials, returning to Australia’s infamous ‘Beer O’Clock Hill’ to demonstrate the capabilities of its Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV and Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV. This marks the company’s fifth consecutive year of successfully conquering the climb.

The recent ascent saw the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV complete the challenge in full production specification, rolling on standard highway tires. According to GWM, no mechanical modifications, calibration changes, or software upgrades were made to any of the vehicles. This highlights GWM’s confidence that customers can purchase these vehicles and immediately tackle challenging off-road conditions. In previous years, GWM has successfully climbed the hill with the Cannon XSR (in full production spec), the Cannon Alpha Hi4-T PHEV, and the Tank 300 Diesel.

This demonstration comes as GWM prepares to launch the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV in the Australian market. The company is touting the Hi4-T’s electrified off-road architecture. GWM is experiencing strong sales in Australia, and the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV enters a competitive market against the likes of the Isuzu MU-X. GWM is emphasizing the accessibility and real-world performance of its vehicles.
